As fears around the recession grow, and at a time when other fashion designers are heavily focused on encouraging celebrities to wear their products, Alexander McQueen challenges both the recession and Hollywood at the opening of his new Los Angeles flagship store on Melrose

While the likes of Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani persist in wooing Hollywood’s finest, there is a growing feeling that the fashion establishment needs a challenge. And McQueen, with his none-too-diplomatic way with words, might just be the man to provide it.
