Anabella Vivas‘ “100% Sand” investigates if and how design processes can take advantage of the integration of natural elements.

Her collections of vases look for a balance between concrete and glass which according to her, are the two most important in terms of history and usage. The high content of sand in the mixes makes it possible to blow the glass on a slightly cooler temperature than normal, keeping the glass pieces and the concrete together.

Each one of her objects comes with a narrative, and clearly reveals the traces of its making and process. Vivas refers to her pieces as storytellers and through them creates awareness of the amount of things we have around us containing sand and its importance to the creative process.

Exhibited at VENTURA LAMBRATE 2015 in Milano.
