WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING AT MILAN DESIGN WEEK?

I’m actually really excited for this year’s Milan Design Week. I think it’s going to be especially good. I have a gut feeling about this and I’m really looking forward to it. My week kicks-off with an event at the Villa Necchi hosted by T Magazine. As always, I’m excited to see what Rosanna Orlandi, Nilufar Gallery and Wallpaper Handmade are showing. I’m especially excited to see what Lindsey Adelman is showing for Nilufar and new Wallpaper from Calico that will be on display at Rosanna Orlandi. Piet Hein Eek always impresses with his showcase at Rosanna Orlandi and I would assume this year would be no exception. I always like to see what’s at the Museo Bagatti Valeschi and I believe this year will be a show of Formafantasma with Ecal and Vacheron Costantin. In addition, this year I’ll be checking out Dimore Studio, The Arrangement of Furniture in a Room, SCP’s 30th Year presentation, Luca Nichetto at Rosanna Orlandi, Everything Nendo and finally, Euroluce.

What are you looking forward to seeing at Milan Design Week?

I’ll have lunch at Rosanna Orlandi for sure. I love to eat at La Torre di Pisa. Proper Tuscan Food. It used to be James Irvine’s favorite spot and he and Sottsass used to eat there often.

Best place for an espresso/quick bite?

I’m always on the go so I barely eat and drink too much coffee. I never know where I’m at, but the cafes are always reasonably good. Frankly, I always look forward to an espresso at Cadorna Train Station when I arrive after the long flight. I am a HUGE fan of Gelato and I think Ciocollata is amazing. Sometimes I skip lunch and just have gelato. Seriously.

WHERE WILL YOU BE STAYING IN MILAN?

I always stay at Airbnb. This year I’m staying at what looks like it’s going to be an amazing loft in Brera. I’m excited! Should be a nice place to call home.

CAN YOU RECOMMEND SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE SHOPS, PLACES TO SEE WHILE IN MILAN?

There’s a glasses store I’m obsessed with called Ottico (Ripa di Porta Ticinese, 27). Obviously Corso Como is always fun to see. And if you’ve never been, seeing Da Vinci’s Last Supper is a great cultural experience. If you get bored you can go to Lake Como and have a lunch and head back.

“I’m loving mirror finishes. Stone in amazing colors. Pinks, peaches and buttery yellows.”

ONE PIECE OF ADVICE FOR A FIRST TIME GOER.

Don’t expect to see everything. In fact, don’t even expect to see 1/4 of everything.

FAVORITE DESIGN MOVEMENT OR TREND AT THE MOMENT?

It feels like everything is on trend right now. I’m loving mirror finishes. Stone in amazing colors. Pinks, peaches and buttery yellows.
